Medis was founded in 1989 by Mr Tone Strnad, a pharmacist who had previously worked as a Chief Marketing Officer in a large pharmaceutical multinational corporation.

Faced with limitations in implementing innovative ideas in the corporate environment, equipped with profound knowledge about pharmaceutical marketing, and a passionate desire to run a company in his own way, Strnad decided to terminate his contract after an important meeting abroad.

With the support and help of his wife, Znana Strnad, an experienced human resources manager, he began building a business based on their values. Values such as knowledge and creativity, integrity and flexibility, as well as intelligent and dedicated teamwork still characterize Medis’ work today.
 

What started as an herbal store quickly became one of Slovenia’s fastest-growing companies. In the years after 1995, Medis began to expand into other markets. Investing in knowledge and top employees, fostering a culture of innovation and teamwork, coupled with impeccable customer service, has helped Medis stand out and achieve its goals year after year.  

More than 30 years later, Medis now has extensive knowledge, top experts, and around 400 employees in 18 countries. Together, we are providing the complete spectrum of integrated services for global biotech and pharmaceutical companies looking to enter or expand their presence in Central Eastern Europe but, due to complexity, economic power, and differences in mentality and culture, somehow find it prohibitive to do business directly.  And this is where our story really begins.
