The International Scientific Committee evaluated 242 scientific research papers from 9 countries and selected 18 finalists
The International Scientific Committee of the International Medis Awards for Medical Research has completed the evaluation of 242 scientific research contributions. This time, 148 met all the required criteria for their authors to become IMA nominees. The Committee then selected 18 finalists, two from every field. For the tenth consecutive time, the outstanding research achievements of doctors and pharmacists from Central and South-Eastern Europe will be rewarded. The awards ceremony will take place on 7 March 2024 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, when the winners will be announced.
The finalists of the 10th International Medis Awards for Medical Research (in alphabetical order of fields):
- Gastroenterology: David Bauer, Austria and Lorenz Balcar, Austria
- Gynecology: Gábor Szabó, Hungary and Luka Roškar, Slovenia
- Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesiology: Nikola Bradić, Croatia and Dimitar Tonev, Bulgaria
- Neurology: Marija Babunovska, North Macedonia and András Salamon, Hungary
- Ophthalmology: Maja Živković, Serbia and Koraljka Hat, Croatia
- Pediatrics: Gordana Bukara-Radujković, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ivana Trivić Mažuranić, Croatia
- Pharmacy: Milena Anđelković, Serbia and Lea Knez, Slovenia
- Pulmonology and Allergology: Jure Urbančič, Slovenia and Ivana Huljev Šipoš, Croatia
- Rheumatology: Irina Gessl, Austria and Ana Banko, Serbia
Doctors and pharmacists who have published their scientific research contributions in reputable scientific publications with an impact factor higher than 1.500 were eligible to take part in the International Medis Awards. This year, 242 research articles from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia were submitted. Among them, 148 applications met all high criteria for their authors to become nominees of the International Medis Awards.
The awards ceremony will take place on 7 March 2024 in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
The Awards were established in 2014 by the Slovenian pharmaceutical company Medis, which is still the main sponsor of the contest.
